September in Review

This post is a bit late in the month. That's because I'm a bad blogger, guys. Sorry, I'm not sorry. But let's look at some pictures from the lovely month of September!

Towards the end of the month, I took a lovely road trip to San Francisco! We stayed there and in Berkeley for almost a week. There was lots of amazing food, pretty sights, and fun times.

October in Review

pumpkin pie, because duh, it's October. other pumpkin goodies consumed: pumpkin butterscotch pancakes, pumpkin pie vodka, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin butter.

Hera bust from "The Body Beautiful" exhibit at Portland Art Museum, which focused on sculptures/vases of Ancient Greece. Not pictured: way too many floppy units and man butts. 

My little sister's first two tattoos! *tear* I'm just so proud.

Whilst rearranging my bedroom in a confused effort to solve recent sleeping issues, I decided I needed a giant white paper lantern. I then decided that I should cover that lantern in all the glitter that I own. This was a terrible, beautiful idea. My entire apartment is now covered in glitter. I love/hate it so much.

I started re-reading my favorite comic series ever, Love and Rockets by the Hernandez brothers.

We spotted this near OMSI after Zombie Walk. I really love the embroidery someone stapled up high. It's a lovely autumn barnhouse scene.

We tried to dye Andrew's hair grey, but it somehow ended up blue, which is still awesome.

Yes, it appears this IS a good spot for tags.

Stumptown Comics Fest 2012!

On Saturday, I headed downtown to Stumptown Comics Fest. It was a blast as always, and I came home with a massive stack of fresh new comics!

And here’s some of the goodness I ended up bringing home!

Diary Comic by Aya Kakeda. Stumbling across her booth was the best thing that happened ever! I’ve owned a few Dunnys that she designed, and had seen some of her art before, but had no idea she did comics! They’re mostly mini-comics and diary comics, all adorable of course. She signed my copy for me, woo!
Both Bridge City Comics and Things From Another World had boxes upon boxes of $1 comics. I got a huge stack of awesome girly superhero comics! I’m really excited to read the newer Batwoman series; the artwork looks so amazing!
Sock Monkey by Tony Millionaire & Local by Brian Wood. I love me some Tony Millionaire, I even own a Drinky Crow vinyl toy. Local is a fantastic series: wonderful artwork and a great storyline.
Bahahaa! Most hilariously cute little comic ever. Henry Rollins (Black Flag) + Glenn Danzig (The Misfits) = love!
Some of the hardbacks I bought. Gotham City Sirens has Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and Catwoman getting an apartment together and trying to be normal. What?! That sounds ridiculous. I love ridiculous!
Flies on the Ceiling is a Love & Rockets collection. It’s one of my favorite comic series ever of all time. It’s written by the Hernandez brothers, and spans several generations. Amaziiiiing.
And last, but not least. Two wonderful signed prints.
“Portlando” by the guys from webcomic Buttersafe. (heh. Portland, Lando Carlrissian. Get it?) and “Not a Lie” by Cat Farris.

Outfit- Stumptown Comics Fest!

Today I’m going to the annual Stumptown Comics Fest in Portland. It’s a really fun weekend-long event. It focuses more on indie/underground comics than big-names and superheroes. There’s quite a few local comic publishers here, like Dark Horse, Oni Press, and Top Shelf. It’s so neat to see so much talent all in one building! I’m really looking forward to picking up some fresh new comics today!
