Treat Yo Self

dress: Target  cardigan: Frenchi  tights: Target  shoes: Anarchic

I bought this dress last week on a "Treat Yo Self" day. If you watch the show Parks and Recreation, you probably know what I'm talking about. If you don't watch the show Parks and Recreation, you're missing out and you should probably go watch it right now. Basically, there's an episode where Tom and Donna have an annual "Treat Yo Self" day, where you indulge and pamper yourself and do whatever makes you happy, whether that means new clothes, massages, mimosas, or a Batman costume.
Between finals, a two-week long cold, followed by a week of migraines, followed by an allergic reaction to new antibiotics (wheee!), it's been a rough month for me. It was really therapeutic to treat my self, and do what made me happy for a day. I really believe in self-care and paying attention to the little things that make you happy.

Little things about this outfit that make me happy: comfy new lace dress, glittery eyeshadow, wearing multiple shades of my favorite color, and my messy colorful hair.

If any of you haven't heard yet, Google is retiring Google Reader, or Google Friend Connect.  This is pretty saddening, since the majority of you guys follow me through there. But no need to worry! You can still follow me and subscribe to my posts through Bloglovin'! I've personally been using Bloglovin' ever since I started reading bloggity blogs. Lovely Things

"Sweet me off my Feet" Dress from Modcloth
I love every little detail of this dress. Notice the layered collars, and how the top collar is cupcake-patterned lace! This is such an adorable, sugary-sweet dress.
Leather-bound Classics from Barnes & Noble
I was swooning over these last night at Barnes & Noble. They're beautifully designed, well-made, gorgeous books. I want to buy all of them!

things to make your sick self feel better.

IMG_5442
I have the worst cold in the world and I feel like I'm dying. I know I'm not the only one. It seems like all my friends and co-workers have got this icky sickness at least once this winter. I think this is my third time being sick in the last couple months. Blech! It wasn't so bad the first two times, but this is the WORST. I've been trying to lay low and recuperate, but it's hard to do with that whole job and school thing. Alas. Here are some things that are making me feel better. (sidenote: How awesome is my Space Unicorn?! My friend Megan made it for my birfday. I haven't named it yet, but I'm totally in love with it.)

TEA TEA TEAI just want to drink hot tea all day long. The steam helps my congestion, the hot cup feels nice in my hands, and I have some yummy flavors. Tea is just so comforting when I'm all "blechhhh".
bath
Baths! These are made even better by a nice Lush bath bomb. Today I used Phoenix Rising, which smells like cinnamon-apple and makes the water a pretty deep purple. It's nice to just relax in a hot bath and forget that I feel like I'm dying of the black plague.

My Favorite TV Shows
It lifts my spirits a bit when I watch some of my most-loved shows. I adore comedies like 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Community, and The Office. Also, some Doctor Who always gives me warm fuzzy feelings!

A Phone Call to Mom
It's always nice to talk to my mom and catch up on things. She's always suggesting recipes to try, drinks to make, crafts to try out. When I'm sick, she always knows what I need to get better, and what medicines/vitamins I should be taking.

Comfy Soft Fuzzy ThingsI'm a very tactile person, so it's comforting to me when I'm covered in my fuzziest blankets, laying on my fuzziest pillow. If I'm sick, I try to wear the comfiest clothes I have. Right now, it's a long, soft cotton skirt, a stripey tank top, a worn-out cardigan, and fuzzy socks.

I hope this helps anyone out there who also has this awful virus.. Let's feel better soon, friends!
What do you guys do to comfort yourself when you're feeling icky?
