I call this one "hey, i should take some pictures of my outfit and actually do some blogging this month. haha wait no my room is a mess what am i doing never mind"

Most of the above pictures were from a trip to Newport with my lovely friends Steph and Justine. We roasted steak and s'mores over the campfire, saw cute sea creatures at the aquarium, ate yummy seafood, and attempted to sunbathe on the beach while getting pelted by sand thrown at us by chilly wind. I didn't really take that many pictures this month other than that, even though I did lots of fun things. Lately, I've enjoyed just being a bit more in the moment and not committing myself to documenting every little thing that happens with a camera.

this month I:

• went to a super fun bachelorette party full of dancing and yummy drinks
• which was followed a week later by one of the most amazing, fun weddings ever. Congrats David and Kelsey!
• went hiking at Multnomah Falls and saw more waterfalls than I've ever seen before.
• spent as much time in the sunshine as possible.

Camping at the Coast

Last weekend, Andrew, Zak, Faye, and myself headed to the coast for some camping and meteor-shower viewing. We went to the same lovely campsite we did last time, only the weather wasn't quite as nice this time. As in, nowhere near as nice. As in, rainy, foggy, and cold. Curse you and your finicky ways, Oregon Coast! We had planned the trip specifically around an annual meteor shower called the Perseids, but had no luck seeing them as the sky was completely cloudy. Oh well! We still managed to have a good time, despite the cold.

A trip to the beach

Last week, Andrew and I took a much-needed trip to the beach. We drove three hours south to Beachside Recreation Site, a small campground outside of Yachats, Oregon. I had packed for the trip expecting cold weather and rain, but upon arrival was pleasantly surprised by sunshine, blue skies, and somewhat warm temperatures!

I love seeing forts and wood structures on the beach! I'll have to try to make one someday.

I got to play around with my new camera lots on this trip. For example, in the shot above, we could see a teeny tiny black line on the horizon. When I zoomed in with my 140x digital zoom, we found out it was a boat! My camera pretty much doubles as binoculars.

I was really impressed by the campground itself. There was hardly anyone at all tent-camping, as most of the people were in RVs. Our campsite was just a tiny walk to the beach, and the bathrooms. The campground has some really nice yurts, but you have to rent them a month or two in advance. I plan on doing so sometime this summer! At night, we had the obligatory hot dogs and s'mores over the fire, and walked around looking at the absolutely beautiful night sky. The next day, we headed into Yachats, a cute little coastal town, for some yummy lunch. We ended up at The Drift Inn, a really quirky restaurant decorated with mermaids, local art, and crazy umbrellas hanging from the ceiling.

I ordered a super-delicious crab and avocado pizza, with a marionberry daiquiri. So good!Afterwards, we walked around a bit and checked out some of the little shops and thrift stores. I found these really adorable knit mushrooms outside a store! 
 It was a really nice trip altogether, and I'm already jonesing to go camping again soon.
